Academic Scholarships......

The organization awards a maximum of ten scholarships to a minimum of five scholarships each year to qualified seniors of Hispanic descent. Scholarship recipients receive a scholarship valued at $ 1000.00, payable to the Wharton County Junior College. Additionly, each year a young lady is crowned "Fiesta Queen" of Fiesta Hispano Americana and is awarded a $500 scholarship; the Runner-Up is awarded a $250 scholarship after completion of their regin and upon graduation. Students must be enrolled as full time students. Fiesta Hispano Americana has awarded over $ 100,000 in scholarship monies in their 26 years of existence. In this section you will find out the who, where, when, & why to apply for the Fiesta Hispano Americana Scholarship. To the left are important dates that coincide with the application process.
Application process.... 
Who...? can apply.
1) Must attend a High School within 30 miles of Wharton Texas. 2) Must be a current High School Graduate; 3) be of Hispanic Descent (Spanish surname): 4) GPA of 3.0 or possess an average of 80. NOTE: Must provide a copy of family's most recent tax return and provide a certified copy of high school transcripts with application. All personal information such as social security numbers, W-2 information, etc. is kept confidential and is not shared with anyone. So that all applications are treated equally, the board, during the review process, only sees the first name of each applicant.

When...? to apply.
Applications are sent to each school's counselor by the second week of January. The applications are due back to the Fiesta Hispano Americana post- marked by March 31.
Why...? apply.
With the price of higher education increasing each year, Why NOT ? Scholarship monies can help pay for semester hours, books, fees, etc. We suggest that every graduate apply for as many scholarships as you can.
1. Eligibility- Must meet all requirements.
2. Personal Information -Name, address, phone number.
3. Academic Information- High School GPA and any College credits.
4. Essay on your goals for pursuing higher education.
5. List of accomplishments in High School ranging from honors & awards you received to clubs and extra-curricular activities you were involved with.
6. Copy of SAT/ACT scores.
7. Certified High School Transcript.
8. Copy of parent(s)/legal guardian's IRS Form W2.
9. Letter of recomendation from a counsler/teacher.
NOTE: Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Important Scholarship Dates

January 4, 2008 - Scholarship notices are mailed to each High School counselor.
March 31, 2008 - Scholarship Application must be mailed back and postmarked to the Fiesta Hispano Americana...
April 18, 2008 - All Scholarship Applications are reviewed by the board.
April 30, 2008 - High School counselors are notified of all the scholarship recipients.
May 2008 - Presentation of Scholarships at school's Award Banquet.
